Dutch Perspective

In the 50s, Coca Cola’s adverts in the Netherlands came with the boast verfrist U het best, translating loosely as it refreshes you best: there are few things more refreshing, however, than a change of perspective, which is exactly what is provided here for Modern Matter by Dutch photography duo Blommers & Schumm. One room or studio can be reinvented, with lights and camera, as a number of different moods and locations; three Dutch models become new women from a different angle. “You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coke, Liz Taylor drinks Coke, and just think, you can drink Coke, too,” as Andy Warhol once said — for both object and image, how something looks is all in our viewpoint.
